Monash Fwy (Melb)

Our office relocated last monday & now I travel the Monash every day. FAR OUT there are some absolute wanker bike riders here.

90% of us will slip up the middle when the traffic is stopped or very slow (30k/h or under), but heaps do it at any speed.

Today the freeway was travelling well. Between 70k & 90k all the way. (current speed limit is 80k due to roadwks), & there were still idiots going up the middle at those speeds. f*&^ing wankers.

I like to ride to one side of the lane so I can see past the vehicle in front of me. Today I was doing this at about 80k odd & another bike came right up behind me & started revving & blowing the horn at me to get out of the way so he could pass.
I felt like kicking the idiot over as he went past.

One thing I did notice, almost all of them were either L Plates, P Plates or small bikes (650 less). Probably only about 10% of them were "big" bikes.
Looks like all of the up & coming riders are learning some poor road habits. No wonder the bike death toll is rising.

Well fellars it must be something that is a problem everywhere and you would be right about all of us being labelled the same which pisses me right off.

We've got the same sort of problem over here but a lot of young kids on the these 1000 that go like to clappers and have know idea what they are getting into. I was speaking to a young guy who was telling me that he has just purchased a new busa and he said he can't wait to get to see what all the fuss is about. The one thing that I couldn't believe is that he has never ridden a big bore road bike so I spose we will have another stat coming up.
In saying that there is also a small minority of the 40-50 year olds that are getting back into bike that haven't ridden since there early day's that don't realise how quick the new bikes are as well.

I use to be a motorcycle instructor as a 2nd job over here for a driving school and I couldn't believe how many guys would rock up on a big bike and wouldn't even have a licence and they were the worst ones to deal with as they thought they new it all. The up side was that I won a lot of cash in betting them that I could pull a bike up quicker than they could. Anyway as long as the rest of us good guys try and uphold all the good things and beliefs for fellow bikers there will be some hope for us yet.

Got blasted by another one today.... Absolute wanker

The traffic is almost stopped & this little fuckwit is blasting up the left skirt at about 100. I heard him coming behind me. 2 stroke screaming.
All I could see as he went past was the huge big yellow square with the black 'L' on it.

One idiot that's not going to last very long.........

I posted on this topic a while ago, more often than not you see the damn L or P plate as they flash past. At the time I wondered if they were showing off in front of the busa, but I'm blowed if I know. I ride like an absolute fuckwit at times, but NEVER when there is a chance I might hurt someone else, or scare a car into doing something dumb.

At bikenite last night, Max and I decided to go on a Discovery Ride here in Canberra. One of the Stay Upright instructors (who also owns a busa) runs a monthly instruction day for L-platers. Half the day is slow-speed work based around the test, the other half is road craft. A friend of mine has just got his Ls and I want him to learn properly, so I told him to go along. When I thought about it, I realised I haven't practised those slow-speed things in a while either, so I'm going and so is Max. I figure we are going to be at as much of a disadvantage as the newbies, as we wrestle a busa around that tight course.

God I hope we don't embarass ourselves!

As long as we don't have a very slow speed drop I'll be happy. better start practising that counter steering thing. Tough on a big bike, but not impossible.
Good weather, good woman, good road, good bike, good-bye!!

Yes
Could not agree more, If Iâ€m passing between lanes and spot a bike I will not pass him/her until I am certain its safe by being waved on or moving into another lane and so on. Its just common bloody courtesy. By the way, what parts of the Monash do you use as I may be able to give you a few short cuts to avoid the traffic if youâ€re heading the right way. I commute to and from the city from Frankston, drop me a line if you want to discuss this further, always happy to help.

Sorry I missed this post matey. Only found it now cause I wanted to bitch about another cockhead that I've seen at least 2 or 3 times a week.

This Wanker makes me laugh every time I see him. He's blasting between the traffic which is flowing at speed. The dickhead is obviously aware of motorcycle safety as he's wearing a high-viz construction vest & on the back of his hard box are "Touched by the Road Toll" stickers plastered all over it.
I figured he'll BE the road toll soon enough.

To answer your question.
I live at Rowville. Get onto the Monash at Wellington Rd & off ar Toorak, up Auburn rd to my office on Burwood rd at Hawthorn.
