G'day Mate,
I hear that FasterFaster sold you my beat up Fuel Tank with the imprint of my balls and groin in it!!!! Do you still have it, intend using it, or have used it??
Cheers, Peter
I cringe every time i look at it.
The only usefull part was the filler, that went on to Hemaglobins tank and became my lowered landspeed tank !!! everything else is distorted, but it isn't in the same shape you left it in as i tried to fix it
If you want it back your welcome to it , i think you earned it.
How are you going now ?
Almost cured.... but will still have some back issues for a while, and not to think I'm He-Man at work at lift just anything in sight, or push anything.... But all cool
Actually remarkable for what I went thru. I start back at Full-Time work on Monday coming.... been almost 11 months since my accident. Had my last Rehab session yesterday, so still gotta go to the gym weekly, and show those buff boys I can compete with them.... and check out the hottie babes and the gym that keep me inspired
Well, I might grab the tank back off you if that's ok... Maybe you could give it to FasterFaster, or I live at Frankston, work at Moorabbin....
Much apprectiated buddy.... good to see that you tried with it tho .... my face when I hit it
I would have to send it to FF1 so i may as well send direct to you.
Pm me your address, I may have some Questions on a RR/A 250 series you could help with too
Your lucky! besides the fact you survived but also to be as mobile as you are
Hey Pete good to see you back around Now as for sold ......................... ? It was a gift ............... or more like getting rid of junk metal how the hell could you sell what was left of that ? I guess you want it back to compare your balls to the dents to see if they are back to normal size or not ?
So when are we going for a fly ? .............. something twin and with a bit of grunt ? oh ................... I'm in the left hand seat, just in case you fly like ya ride
Handing over ........................ be buggered LOL
FF1
FF1 - "Fly like I ride?" .... Well, you know that the neighbours thought I was going to land on their Tennis Court many years ago, when I was just trying to alert my Mum that I was home, and to pick me up from the airport !!!! Don't know what they were worried about - just shook the loose twigs and leaves outa their trees all in one go - Autumn all at once
Well, I've been busy for last month - and only just getting back here. Sat exams for Helicopter licenses this week, so look out.... Damn if I'm "handing over control" to you .... You know the engine throttle increase on the Collective Control is reverse to a motorbike - wind off the twist grip to obtain engine power!! What silly bugger thought of that!!!!
Maj, my email address is peterelston@email.com since I can't PM you,tho my ezy inbox is activated and working fine. If you could email me, I send my address thru.... and answer your RR/A250 questions, tho I'm more of a Arriel & Arrius (TurboMeca) person myself.
Cheers, Peter
Listen up fly boys
I was up at the former Drage air museum in Wang last week, maybe you blokes have been there lately
Anyway there's a big war bird replica manufacturing organisation in that hangar now. They are working on a P 39 Bell AeraCobra, Chance Vought Corsair, Kawasaki Hi 6 & a few other notables
The AeraCobra fuselage is complete (less skinning) with a shiny zero hour Allison V1750 in the back.
(If they'd heard about the complaints the Yank pilots had with the C of G on that thing they mightn't bother) They lost a lot of blokes in New Guinea in T/O & landing accidents.
They also have the remains of about 4 Lockheed Lightning P 38's laying about showing the ravages of exfoliation corrosion from various crash sites. These parts are going to be used as patterns for new assembly's
It was also mentioned that they had unearthed 50 (fifty)
zero hour war surplus Allisons in Canada of all places
Heya Rev,
That old Wang museum is now occupied by my former Chief Engineer who I started my apprenticeship with at SCHUTT Aviation at Moorabbin Airport. Ron Lee restores all the old warbirds there, works for a rice framer from Deniliquin named Murray Griffiths. Ron is a bit nuts, and padantic, but very good at getting it original!! My first job was to get the hangar ready for the old DC-3 Hudson Hawdon arrival (used to hang at entrance to Melbourne Airport), the to begin restoring a classic Wirraway VH-BFB that had just arrived in tatters from being buried in a dired up dam in 1994. Apparently now the best original example of Wirraway out there. Must visit him up there one day.
What the hell s a AeraCobra ?? My flying encyclicopedias in storage still....
Cheers, Peter

What's a Bell AeraCobra ?
Made by the helo mob in WW2.
Mid engine fighter, engine located behind the pilot with long drive shaft between his legs to four bladed prop
This allowed room for the fitment of an awesome gun package in the nose section.
Quite a number of P 39's crash landed on York Penninsula en route Bne Moresby in WW2 after dodging bad weather & running out of fuel.
I saw that Wirraway parked there, also a Mirage looking like it could be fired up for a quick circuit or two
We have the Fighterworld AIR Museum at the RAAF Williamtown base about 10 minutes from my house. If anyone is ever up this way it is well worth a visit.
While you are up this way, the National Motorcycle Museum is only 1 hour away as well at Nabiac. This is THE BEST motorcycle museum in Australia and has grown to twice the size it was when it was housed in Canberra a few years ago.

"TAKE MY ADVICE"
I'm not using it anyway!
Who put that plane in my paddock .........said farmer Bill

FF1 Edited by: fasterfaster1 at: 12/6/06 12:03 am
FF1 .... UNBELIEVABLE !!!! And I suppose you would've wanted me to fix that??!!
Likely story about fuel starvation - really you were hunting wabbits, shotgun out the storm window, got a bit low, and clipped a tree didn't you ??!!
....NOT HANDING OVER TO YOU .... he-he-he-he
But I hope you taped up the wing with Gaffa Tape and flew the bastard outa there.... hard to work in that long grass .... expensive snap-on tools get lost
