Bikes in exhibition at National Library

We've just had a meeting about our upcoming exhibition, and there was a whole section on sub-culture with NO BIKES!  We can't fit much in, but the decision comes down to a book called Bikes at Bathurst, or The Motorcycle Atlas showing routes and accomodation.  Both have lovely images.

I think Bikes at Bathurst is evocative and doesn't need much explaination to anyone who rides, people still speak in hushed tones about the '80s.

I've made my choice, but what you do you think? Comments?

P.S.  I got the Brockie memorial book in too while no-one was watching!

The Motorcycle Atlas sounds both interesting and handy

Heidi will these books be on display at the library? If so I'd be keen to check them out. It wouldn't be put of my way either seeing as I seem to spend half my life at the National Library anyway lol.

You can order either of these books at any time as they are part of the collection. I know we have a couple of copies of the atlas, and we'd should have two copies of the Bathurst book too. Just order them up!

You can't get it sent to your home you noodle, this is The National Collection! There is a big chance your local library would have it though, if not they can do interlibrary loans and your library can borrow it from us and then get it to you. Go visiit your friendly local library (is this getting weird for anyone else).

I'm trying to think of an event where I can park the busa in the foyer. I'll come up with something. I had an Italian 'do' so I filled the foyer with Vespas, I'm sure I can do the same with busas.

We host a site at the National Library called Flickr. It is a site that allows people to upload their images into the National Collection (which is pretty cool if you think about it). I showed the girl who coordinates it a few of the Jindy images and she asked if we'd put them up. The site works as a record of daily life, but there are emerging subcultures. I did a search of Hayabusa on the site and only came up with overseas ones. We could take over the site if we tried, if anyone typed 'motorbike' into the search engine, all they would get is Hayabusas. It would also form a lasting record for the next 500 years (ish).
