What's your thoughts on taking the insides out for the original pipes. Have heard that it gives better breathing & a little more of a tone. The cost is the other

My thoughts are that I know it can be done. Bottom line is for me if its going to be done its goin to be done properly which is in keeping with the bikes appearance.

Its not really a job for the home handy man. You see the ally muffler you see is only a spun sleeve that retains the 2 end caps which in turn are joined by 2 tubes welded into the end caps at an incline. The enclosure is wrapped in insulation. The steel end caps are a "very tight" fit in the spun ally sleeve, thus not an easy job to remove..... the story goes on..... would it be worth a pony or 2 ... maybe.... would it sound better ?? YES

My suggestion is to remove the S/S end cap and drill 6 or so 10mm holes in the steel end cap which is retained by the ally sleeve, also cut off the steel exhaust outlet spigot piece... looks as though you have a larger dia outlet pipe then.

Its all a matter of experimenting and understanding what you like and what you are capable of doing at home on a budget.

i didnt wanto keep the origional mount on like the one in the pic because to get the sleeve adound you have to bash the mount in with a hammer so it doesent have a high spot under the sleeve,( which is ok, because you cant see it again anyway... so i just cut the bugger off and made up some straps.
But once its on, you wont know the difference.

the mirror finish stailness cost me 80$ a pair cut and rolled to suit the pipe, which is a bit dear but exceptable.. all i needed then was a drill and pop rivets,

Once you sleeve it, ( and take out the internal baffles) as the other way described above wont work you'll never go back... if and when you ever ger a scrape or scratch, just get another sleeve rolled and attach.....

Phil, I did about 50% of the polishing , including removing most of the weld reinforcement's on around the swingarm. Removing the anodizing is a pain in the rearend on the extruded sections as its extremely hard as you'd expect and difficult to get thru. I sent the rest out to be polished and chromed at a few different places around Sydney. I then clear coated virtually all the polished parts with a product from the USA . Its durability has proven to be good so far and more importantly maintenance free. The uncoated sections I rub over with "Mothers" and they also have shown to be doing well.

The tank bra and seat are made by a company called "Second Look" in the USA.

The polished stainless steel muffler sleeves do not have any rivets in them and as such give a very clean appearance as can be seen.

Does the screen look familiar Phil?

It does look familiar Gazza. My computer shit itself and I lost all E mails etc... I couldn't remember who I sent it too. I hope you've done as many fast runs as I did with it? Sorry, no I don't.
Bike looks great. Pity your not down here. We could have a show and shine latte day. I'm serious.
Cheers, Phil.
