Happened this morning in Tooraddin. I stood there in the service road watching all the bikes go by on the way to the Island and this is what happened.
2 bikes entered the service road (towards Philip Island) trailed by a cop car. The bikes a busa and a honda. They parked theyre bikes right in front of me with the cop car stopping on the service road just behind them. I wasnt sure if the bikes were parking for the cop car, however the busa rider casually leaned over whilst still sitting on the bike and reached for his rego plate and swivellled it over covering the number plate. I couldnt believe what I was seeing, youd think it would be the opposite action namely covered number plate then uncover for the cop, but this riders action was to cover it. The cop in car was busily preparing his paper work before exiting his vehicle. The busa rider then casually moved off in front of the cop car (was a high persuit type of vehicle) and started riding off towards Philip Island direction. WTF!!!! As the bike was pulling away the cop gave chase hardly believing his eyes, he was a bit slow to react to what was going on. So there off went the busa with cop in chase. Now at least I understood why he did what he did.
Standing there amazed at what just happened, I looked at other bikies who also saw what he did and we were all just amazed at what took place. 5 minutes later we saw the busa heading back in our direction and towards the city, he doubled up at some point. 30 secs behind the cop car with all lights flashing and sirens sped into town in persuit of this said busa. cop car must have been doing 120 in a 60 or 80 zone. Again were we all amazed at what we all had just seen. Some cheering the scene.
Some 10 min later, cop car returns entering service road where we were, looking quite flustered and intense on his walkie talkie. He returned to see if anyone got to see his number plate.......I didnt recall his number as no one else did. Turns out cop was due to get him for doing 190 in a 80 or 100 zone not sure, and had his speed registered on his radar screen. The cop was no happy camper, then indulged in a burger hoping on the bikes return. No bike did return however.
So it appears he got away with it and may have "saved" himself heaps of trouble or if caught of course worse.
But man did he have some balls to do what he did and so casually. I wont say the color of the busa. If your reading it, you know who you are. Dunno whether to pin a medal to your big balls or other.
On a side note met Cameron there whos was on his copper/silver from Archilles. Good looking specimen of copper, so he did well and proud he was to of it.
END:
Great Story, and glad Cam is super happy with the bike - nice to see it go to a good home!~
