Now I have no claim to being an economic expert, but it also has to do with local economy in each country. Example being, my equivilant in the US armed forces earns less than half of what I earn, and a bit worse now that our dollar is gaining ground.
I am not saying that things aren't over priced sometimes, and we shouldn't sit back and be ripped off if that is ever the case either.
End of the day, you can always move to one of these countries that seem to give a better deal, but for quality of life and everything else Australia offers, I wouldn't consider it for the world!
