I could have written a book over the 10 years I was a helpdesk / tech support guru.

One outstanding one that comes to mind was back in the 80s.
The Air Force had a handfull of IBM PCs on most bases and the early ones had 5.25" floppy drives.
I was going around the bases swapping them out for new models and after a couple of days one of the clerks rang to say that her floppy disk would not work and the disk that she put in would not eject.
I popped around to have a look for her and found that she had folded a 5.25" disk in half and squeezed it into a 3.5" disk drive.
Fair Dinkum - you would not believe some of the stuff I've seen in real life, not just internet stories.
