melted coupler

Hi all,
has anyone had the same problem? While fixing a back blinker on my 99 busa I noticed that the coupler that joins the wires from the regulator/rectifier to the main wiring harness had melted.
The bike was still running, but sometime before the wiring at the coupler had got hot enough to melt it. Must have been lucky that it still had the connections and ran and didn't burn the old girl.

Gday my 99 had a similar problem behind the motor next to the fuel pump I seperated each individual wire and connected them had no problems since I think it all comes down to age of wiring/connectors as they get older connectors get a powder like coating on them and create heat and therefore melt and short out.thats what I found on my bike.hope this helps.
