Hi Everyone (This is from The Damsel )
I've been doing a lot of checking out of bikes for my first bike. I've also been hanging my bottom lip because the one I want (SV650) is not on the Qld LAMS list. I went to Teammoto in Springwood on Saturday and they had the Learner approved sticker on one which just added to the pain and confusion when I found out this morning that it's not. BTW Suzuki shut at 2pm on Saturday .... Wtf
They have recommended a Hyosung GT650s Tourer as a substitute. I've not heard much good about them but they've all been throw away lines without backing by any logical/technical answers. Some wise words from a fellow board member had me seriously looking at the GS500, they had just gone through what I'm doing so it was still very fresh in their minds. It was extremely helpful.
Here is what I have discovered - I need advice from experienced riders for sure, but it needs to be through the eyes of a learner who wants to stay in one piece - pretty sure that if I come undone the reaming I'd get from dad up in heaven (LOL!!!! Yes, I've bet on heaven!!!) would be much more painful than any off. I know I'll want a more powerful bike in one year; anyone whose read my other thread knows that I like going extremely fast and pushing things to their limit, so I need tempering to stay in one piece; I know that anything I get now will be pox compared to what you're all riding, but hey... I have to start somewhere.
So here is a kind request for you to offer some comments/experience. If I was your loving and most adored daughter, what bike would you all be steering me towards for my first bike under the new Qld Lams list? For the latest list go to:

I'm only considering road bikes, of the sports variety. I'll be doing a bit of zipping around the city but mostly I want to get out for weekend rides. In my head I'm screaming track - but that can wait until I get significant experience under my belt. The bike has to be new.
Finally, I know it's not every riders dream to have their partners out there on the roads with them, but plenty I have spoken to wish they did or did more often. (Personally, I think it would be pretty damn hot to go for a weekend ride with your partner!!!) Your input here just may help some of the lovely lasses who have thought about it every now and again, but like me are finding it a tad frustrating, to getting going and make the choice to take the leap. If you contribute to this thread, I'm happy to collate the info into something useful which can go up on the website as a reference tool. There are too many options on the LAMS (Qld) list for a poll.
Anyway, I have to buy before the end of the financial year so any feedback would be appreciated.
Cheers
