in NSW if your vehicle runs out of rego for more than 3 mths you will need a blue slip but under 3 mths all you need is a normal pink slip.

Kev is correct, and yes u will lose 1months rego', no big deal. Otherwise, hand the plates in to cancel off the RTA then establish a new rego with the RTA with a blue slip. Losing a months rego is ur best & cheapest option and No u won't need a pink slip inspection for 3 years (M/C pink slip $18.80 per year. M/C Blue slip $31.20 and a lot of rootin' around.
