Here in WA the radar detector is legal and there are no plans to make it illegal according to the premier last week. The radar detector I use picks up the 3 signals used by the cops. K band is the mobile units used in the highway patrols and reflex is the key here to brake hard to avoid the cops locking onto you. KA band is the multi nova road side cameras which put out a weak signal so the detector cannot pick them up until you are about 250 meters from them and again reflex action. Lazer is the most dangerous because if they hit you first go you are gone as the detector will register a lazer but it will be too late. WA have now introduced an undetectable road side camera and I am waiting to hear back from the makers of the detector to see if they are working on detecting the new ones.
