The thing is called Gtech http://www.gtechpro.com/ss_fanatic.html and it measures acceleration 0-100kmh ,1/8,1/4 mile and lots more. Works by calculating g forces in acceleration as well as deceleration in braking.the new models also use GPS. works well in cars but not sure if mounting on a bike is a problem
