Hmmm... might want to check contract law too, especially the bit about breach of contract. One party might find that they receive $1 compensation and are then counter-sued for many thousands. If an offer is made publicly, contract law still applies. The court then determines if a 'reasonable person' would have expected delivery prior to the time of raising the suit. All in all, no-one really wins such actions, except the lawyers. It causes bad blood and ruins friendships.
