Read threads on afew different motorcycle forums around the world about this, then realised I don't even know what the legal status is if you get caught lane splitting in NSW. I remember when I did my test (late 70's) you were told to never do it. I know in Victoria the official stance is you can when the traffic's stationary (I think??) I saw a bloke on a Gixxer Thou get pulled up by a cockroach the other day while lane splitting on Great Western Hwy. He was really riding very conservatively and split between stationary traffic. So come on guys. What's your understanding of where we stand as far as lane splitting goes? Particularly in NSW. 
It's a week by week charade.
