In NSW, you are NOT allowed to overtake another vehicle on the left side while sharing a lane.
You can pass stationary traffic but must stop on the driver's side of the vehicle, only if there is room.
A cop will ping you for anything that looks vaguely dangerous.

"If time catches up with you. You're going too slow!"
