Prayers and Thoughts for Bush Fire and Flood Victims

BUSGO Wrote:Thats good to hear Ward. I'll be down your way for a few days at the end of the week.
If I get a chance, I'll drop in and say hello.
Will be coming down from Jindabyne to Corryong and then on to Chiltern.

It would be great to catch up, buzz me if you look like having some free time.

- Just learnt there may be a fire between us and Corryong- still 50km's away and up wind. Unfortunately wind is starting to pick up.

They're now starting to get a bit worried in Yackandandah.

Local ABC radio is keeping us up to date - seems to be the only media
worth taking notice of, with phone ins from each area from CFA.
Not all hyped and sensationalistic (is that a word???)

So don't get me wrong, we're not out of the woods yet. Conditions could change and cause alot of carnage in this area.
We have a few older farmers staying with us in the Motel at present, because they've chosen not to stay incase the fires spark up.

This was in the HeraldSun.
It really put the size of this into perspective for me.

reading this thread most 99% ppl were terribly sorry.

but ward sorry mate my hackles went up...seen and actually helped fight bushfires as farmers.trying to protect properties..huge station near our farm every couple of years due to lightning would go up. 40000 acres on that one let alone the neighbouring ones. i know tv does sensationalise stuff but watching "the today" programm this morning there were alot of people saying thankyou to the media for the help and the knowledge being put out there.
i have seen first hand how a change of wind can turn a fire. i was driving my dads car giving the local farmers much needed water and was in considered a "safe " area as i was told by the professionals..next thing the wind changed and within two mintues the fire that was 15 kms from me was bearing down on me.i turned the car around but hit a sandy patch in paddock.the car bogged down..if it wasnt for the knowledge my father taught me how too get out of situations in bogs..i wouldnt be here.that area got burnt out 5 mins after i left the area..the fire fighting guys the same...

so dont be complacent..you never know how unpredictable fire can be..

i hope yakandanda is ok..i havent heard anything more...

sorry ward if this offends you

We have plenty on smokes and coffee for me and fruit Stix for Jenna so things arne't that bad. Check in a bit later. Cheers The BSRT Fire Crew

Sweet Mary and I were watching the teev with tears in our eyes this evening watching and hearing the horror stories of whoile families dying in their homes and cars. Nothing more we can do, stuck some dough into the Red Cross and prayers for the poor bastards in Mexico.

Stay safe down there guys, you're getting Hell's shit this week!

If you catch one of the morons lighting fires remember to read him his rights before you cut his f*&^ing head off!

Spoke to Dave on the mobile.
He has understated things more than a little in typical bush style.
What he told me nearly had me in tears.
Dave you are one very lucky bloke.
Take care.
Talk Sat.
I didn't ask but obviously the Bus is still ok.

This is going to effect a lot of us, I tell you now.
Most of us will know someone effected by the time this is over.

We're still headed your way Wednesday night Ward. If the fires go again and your area hots up we'll have to consider our options. Do you have a mobile so we can check on conditions in your part of Mexico please mate?

Thanks. We hope the fire peter out with this cooler weather and praying for appreciable rain.

Fires no where near here - apparently still problems in other areas, but you'll have no worries. I'll be in Phillip Island Sunday/Monday/Tuesday. (working)
