About 25-30mm for the road to have rear suspension operating in the correct range. Static sag includes you sitting on the bike vs the rear end off the ground with the rear suspension fully extended.

As for what would be a good setting for the drags I could only guess. Normally for a racetrack type setting you want the rear compression damping to be such that the rear end doesn't squat under acceleration as this causes the front to raise and consequently run wide. Maybe you want the rear to squat on a drag bike to provide drive, but I'm only guessing.

I would ask for advice from any drag officianados (not the ones who like to cross dress though).

Peter,

Is the bike stock lenght (stock swingarm).
Stock or moded motor,
Lowered and/or straped??
tyre pressures
Whats the bike doing/not doing?

I've found with a stock motored bike, your road settings should be ok as theres so much more you can adjust before you run into shock setup problems(assuming the shocks in good cond.) Unless your really at the pointy end of the 60foot times 1.4-1.50 then you'll find it ok.

Tyre pressures ,ride height, gearing and wheelbase will have a lot more influence if not setup right.

Huls, thanks 4 ur replyPi_thumbsup

Legend, bike is extended, lowered, strapped & on stock motor,i've just recently done these mods & was mainly curious if the shock needed to be adjusted ie thought they might be set up different for the strip.
I'm nowhere near the pointy end so i won't mess with it.Pi_thumbsup

Seeing the bike is extended I would up the pre load a couple of turns to allow for the added leverage on the shock.

Sometimes adjustment doesn't help all that much, typical would be to soften compression and tighten rebound but last time i took my streetbike out i rode it to the track, ran some good numbers then figured i would set the suspension properly for dragging and gained 3 tenths immediately , set it back to street specs and went back to the quicker times , problem was the suspension bottomed and caused wheelies, doing as Leonard suggested would have helped but there was no simple way on the day

Is it looking like this
[Image: shifterrear2SDC10118.jpg]

I have about 2 inch clearance between the tyre & tail light area, I made up the number plate holder thats works as a skid plate as well
I have my compression & rebound hard as all the way clockwise
if you want my number PM me

K8 Stock motor, best ET 9.124
4 into 1 etc

simmo, mine might be a touch lower.Originally i bought lowering links(with 3 holes) the longest hole is where i want the bike to sit (tail hits) & the middle hole is 2 high so i had a inbetween set made,i now have around 2" clearance, seems to sag abit when i sit on the bike so i'll check static this arv.I'm going to order a +6 tail early in the new year & get this baby on its guts!
We have a T&T on fri nite so i'll see how it all pans out.

Pete, can't wait to run the bike with my new flash tune, appreciate ur professionalism, help & adviceTrophy

Thanks guys for ur replies, appreciate itPi_thumbsup

Mine is rock hard (adjusted the spring it has a good inch of thread there now) mine sits a bit lower that the pic, but the poor old shock is trying to work in a 2 inch area (they are not make for that) but you work with what you got

What gearing you running mine is 17- 47, with Petes reflashing the ecu I run over the line at 11,800 real time (on the tacho 12500)

17-46 at the moment,i think pete set my limiter at 11,500(haven't run the bike with his tune yet) no idea what the tach reads(to busy worrying about stopping)but i was going through with shift light on(i think) which i have at 10,500.
Only started drag racing this year so still have plenty to learn & skills to aqiure.Have only had 2 meets on the bike, one when it was short & one with this current setup & went 9.52@146 with traction(tyre pressures)& launch issues(my dodgey clutch/throttle control).Loving this bike & can't wait till i start running some #'s so i can go Pro SreetPi_thumbsup
