Busa Respray Costs ??
#1
Hey Guys,
I wish to get my Gen1 resprayed (different colour) and was wondering what I should expect to pay .. ballpark figure. Mine is pretty crappy (scratches, stonechips, small ding in tank etc) so I'd expect it to be on the higher end of the respray spectrum. I've never had a bike painted so I really have no idea. Any suggestions as to a good painter in the Wollongong / Illawarra area ..
Thanks guys ..

A mate with his own crash/spray business did mine for mate's rate's (not much) But told me the spray blokes work on about $300/ panel. Tank/Nosecone/lh fairing rh fairing/bellypan/tail section/hump 7x $300
$2100 could be a baseline cost but really just a guess .

Hey Dale,

Off the top of my head, I remember there was a guy around the Dapto area by the name of "Jay" who resprayed my mates old 750 Kat about 12yrs back...

I remember at the time being very, VERY impressed Pi_thumbsupClapPi_thumbsup with the spray job he did (candy apple red) for my mate, but I can't recall what sorta $$$ my mate paid back then?!? And I don't know if this guy is still around and still painting....but if he still IS.....I'm sure if you ask for him by name around a few local panel shops, someone would know of his whereabouts???

hope this info helps ya, mate....Undecided

You've prolly seen the amount of stone-chips on my recently resprayed nose cone, I very much doubt it got more than one coat of clear......needless to say, I won't be getting ANY more paint work done on the h/way at Woonona (2 doors south from MaxPower)....Frown

Your better off buying a set of brand new panels from overseas unless you're after a custom paint job.

I had my bike fully resprayed for around $750.
No panel work required. It was done by an ex professional painter in his garage.

Agree with 1300Hayabusa if your not fussed about a custom paint job, panels from Internet are worth $800 bucks for the whole bike and come fully painted with approx 4 different styles. Can give you a number to ring if interested.

I was planning on similar paint job as yank 2006 limited edition .. (I love white Smitten) Don't think I'll go black frame tho' .. maybe polished. I was hoping to have it done before Tathra, but I might let vitto and corbin fight it out for best custom paint this year, and then sneak in and scoop the pool in 2012 Lol3
I was told today about a bloke not far away from work so I'll go and have a chat with him soon ..
I'm surprised we don't have any bike painters in the club .. surely someone must be a spraypainter / panel beater and ride a busa.

Thanks guys Pi_thumbsup .. Dale

I did some enquires about this myself few months ago at Top Coat in Adelaide. The guy did some work for me before (very good job) and has an excellent reputation for a quality of work. He is not cheap but quality never is. Peter's estimate of about $300 per panel is about right for a simple standard job. Custom paint can cost you up to 5K and even more depending on how fancy you want to make it. For a standard colours it is cheaper to buy the new parts i recon too.

about 2k for a standard 2 tone paint job and custom flames or graphics could easily double that.
ask who ever does it if he has some work he's done to show you first. All painters think there the best.
