WA the bloody nanny state
#1
Brand new 2011 exactly 4 weeks old off the show room floor.
Mods are: lowered, bar raiser, yoshi carbon pipes and some pin strips. Pulled over by Mr Plod doing 55km in a 60km zone, so couldn't be for speeding. Mr Plod walks around the bike and states " This is a really ugly looking bike" no bites from this end as obviously looking so something. This is how it goes:

1. Your tinted visor is illegal $100 and 3 points.
2. Your yoshi pipes are illegal and need removing.
3. Your rear foot pegs are illegal remove them (standard footpegs came with the bike.
4. Your bike has no reflector its illegal put it back on.

Okay yes the pipes are aftermarket but who doesn't have them, the rear reflector has been put back on, the foot pegs Wtf no chances as daughter rides on the back at times and the tinted visor, who doesn't have one but after investigation I found its not shatter proof.

We live in a bloody nanny state here god help us for wanting a nice ride out.

A wise man told me a while back that if the Yoshi cans have the kanji & Hayabusa engraved on them (as mine do), you may be able to convince them that it came from the factory with them on and that they are made specifically for the bike (definately try that if they bung it on me in the future)

One wheelie, 6 months suspension, $1,000 fine, $858 impound fees, $129 court costs, not being able to insure a bike as I'm a 39 year old hoon....yeah, you're preaching to the converted in WA...

(I love these rant threads!)

Seems pretty rough treatment for observing the speed limit. Glad I have been away over holiday period. Don't remember voting for this sort of treatment in an election.

visor needs to have the safety sticker on it. (I used to rip them off - now I don't)

New change in VIC. In VIC if you need a blue slip - ie. to sell your bike, it must now have the original pipes unless it's over a certain age, or it wont pass. The examiner now needs to document and photograph everything, so there's no getting around it. They even photographed the brake linings inside rear brake! - The mechanic said it's a huge pain to do now, and he knows of some guys who are charging $500 for a blueslip just to get out of it.

Its obvious that the cops are out of control and I think that maybe it is being fuelled by the Government more of less trying to recoup money to keep the economy afloat.
Where I live there are so many cops around at the moment I just cant believe it. I have never seen it like this, Its holiday time I know but it seems to have started at least 6 week before the holidays.
