G'day all,
wondering if anyone in Busa land might know how many copper Busa's hit our shores.
OK - I'm sitting down and ready for the 'colourful' shit throwing contest
I had a look at the Vin's that I could find, and I am guessing that Australia had around 700 odd Busa's in 99, so if I halve that - would that be right?
I rang Suzuki Australia and they were so very very helpful... "dunno how' you'd find that out"

SHIT STIRRING ? ? Here ???
HMMMM.
The copper ones were very popular till the red / black option was spotted in the showrooms then all the copper sales faded away..
hahahahah !
In all honesty, the VIN numbers are just stuck on the bikes as the crates arrive in the warehouse.
That is why Suzuki can't help you I reckon.
"If time catches up with you. You're going too slow!"

Suzuki know very well, theyd have records of every VIN, but not updated whether theyre write offs or still exist. Me thinks they wouldnt bother looking up the records for you.
Copper - the ones I know of;
#1 Never registered, suzis showroom piece.
#2 JP from suzuki, rumour has it it blew up (engine) on Cols dyno.
#7 Recently featured here for sale.
#27 (i think) Wardsy here on the board.
#33 Mine
Thats all I know. and whether there were red/blacks in between those numbers it may very well be I have no idea one way or another. What # is your Arc?
PS. You can count the coppers and B/R on original members list (first 500) on websites front page. But of course not all bikes registered here.
Copper/ Silver - The original, the rest are just copies.
Hey mate,
thanks for your reply. I was thinking, if you could get hold of what the Vin numbers for the recall was, you could get an idea, as pan mentioned, three colours divided by the number of bikes on recall?
Anyway, we may never find out.
My vin (third time round) is.....
wait for it
29
Pretty damn happy bout that just quietly
the last copper I had, which 'cam' from the club bought was 300 I think?

well done matey, whats the history of the bike, was the owner ever on the board?

thanks Volvi,
interesting story, the bike was sold new in Vic to a lad who had another 5 bikes , so from 1999 to 2003 he only clocked up 1100k's. I thought this was a bit too good to be true, but through sources who will remain nameless, I tracked down the original owner and he verified the story. He then sold it to the second owner who has clocked up the remaining 23,000 k's since then.
I don't believe the chap has been a member on here. Should arrive in the next couple of weeks - can't wait. the bloke I am buying it off is a real champ. and very helpful.

have you got it yet? interested in knowing what ya paid, can PM me if you prefer.

Haven;t got it as yet - being transported now.
I paid $10k for it. tried to get it for less, but the seller stuck to his guns. Again, top bloke, so happy to pay what I think is a fair and reasonable price for a low k classic.
The bike was sold no rego and to get it back to new - it needs the ducktail and rhs fairing touched up as it has been dropped at rest, so a couple of light scratches - but nothing serious. On top of this I have $1k to get it to me, so suspect it will owe me around $12 - $13k once it gets here and she is back to bog stock. Above the odds I guess when you compare it to a much later bike, but a bit like yourself Volvi - it's the copper or nothing for me!
