Couple of months off work
#1
I have a couple of months off work coming up soon so I thought it'd be an ideal opportunity to explore some new roads. Having a look through the Australian Motorcycle Atlas has given me some ideas.

View Mackay to Eungella in a larger map

View Sarina Esses in a larger map

View Mount Morgan in a larger map

I'll also be visiting Charleville, Rolleston, Maryborough, Bundaberg and Ayr. Cairns seems worth a visit if I'm going as far as Ayr... anyone here ridden the Gillies Range before, or can recommend other good roads around Cairns?

Now to just get that licence back...

Are you living up that way nowTim?

Mt Morgan OK but unless it has been worked on in recent years the corners can be gravelled from the semi's going across both laes to make the tighter corners. Eungella beautiful, flats to get out there and a steep rise at the end - don't know about the roads when you get up there.

If you are coming up this way and have not yet done it I would recommend the many peaks run. Does not look like much on the computer but is alot of fun. Nice big fast sweepers mostly and a pub at many peaks for lunch Very Happy Highly recommend.

Ok, Mackay to Eungella, good ride, steep hill at the end.

anything in particular you chasing with the sarina run??? Not much there except cow shit and .... riding. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Mt Morgan run, same oh same oh at the moment. Road works with loose gravel & crap from Mt Morgan to Dululu... again is this a one way trip or ???

I know most of the area in CQ pretty well, if you can give me an idea of what or where you'd like to loop around I can tell you of any thing that might be interesting.

Can agree with VNSVLE - that run is interesting & true about the stops.

Cheers for the heads up! No not living up that way, just visiting some family.

It was mentioned as noteworthy in the Atlas, which is all I've really had to go off.

But thanks to local knowledge from you guys, I'll be able to narrow it down to the more interesting bits.

Go for it, there's always something different to look at when its not your own backyard.

right now, its brilliant from all the rain we've had all year, so its the prettiest its been in a long time.
