I used to live in Kettering. Had a Suzuki T500 before a Triumph T140 and commuted daily to Hobart along the Channel Hwy. So, I KNOW how you feel. The ride from Kettering to Cygnet(Channel Hwy), round trip returning via Oyster Bay Rd is Heaven. I used to be able to order a crayfish with salad and chips at the Woodbridge Pub for $5.00, when fishing in Little Peppermint Bay was lacking (which was not often)!!! At the end of Whitton's Rd on the Hill, you might even still see the remains of my place! Tassie is without doubt THE place to be, but to qualify, the idea of making money has got to be low in one's priorities from my experience. Currently around 500,000 inhabitants and only 100,000 or so have jobs. A fantastic place to grow herbs too! I'll HAVE to go back with my trumpet and on my chariot! Have a nice day!

Just spent the past week in Tassie did a round trip starting from Hobart went to the east coast first then up to Devonport then back down through Cradle Mountain, Queenstown and then Hobart, had a hire car otherwise would be too distracting on the bike. I was stunned with the amount of road kill though, 4 wombats, so many wallabies I lost count and echidna's :( . Some of the winding roads would also be quite hairy on the Busa. Had great weather though. Came across a number of groups of bikes, one lot about 9 bikes at Cradle Mountain and another lot out of Queenstown. Also came across some skateboarders flying down into Queenstown, gutsy guys.

I'd like that a lot, except I don't want to ride from Brisbane to Melbourne first(!) I might look into a trailer...

Myself and the misses with friends are half way around tassie right now and loving it! Hired 1200 GS bikes from Ian at moto adventure and can't fault it at all. He set up a suggested itinery every day for 10 days and booked us in for accomodation as a package with most places being B &B, definatly need more than 10 days to get around tassie thou. Just at deloraine tonight then head of in morn for Stanley. Wat a change from straight rds in Queensland! Got to love the rds in Tassie.

Chris, after you cross the bridge at Deleraine (instead of turning left to head to Launceston) turn right and you will find an antique furniture store. ..... thats my old mans place. That's where we are staying next week.
