ok the short story, used to be a pro musician!

was in the navy for a while... 6years.

Not I'm a mechanic.

Sick of people stuffing up my toys, so now I mod all my toys and look after them my self.
Mechanic doesn't pay that good atm, but soon I will have my own shop here in Perth, and if all works out, I'll have a few plebs, I mean techs doing the main work, and me just playing and tinkering on the silly stuff.

We'll see I guess!~

Started working life at Woolworths in the Produce department for a few years before I went to TAFE and did an electrical course for 7 months.
When I finished TAFE started working for McCrackens Water services pulling and fixing all types of water pumps and then went to sales before they ran out of work after getting alot of rain one year.
Worked at Retravision as a salesman for a couple of months before I started working at Linemac Motors (the local toyota dealer) fixing and servicing all minesite vehicles at the local coal mine.
Was there for 8 Months before getting a Diesel fitting apprenticeship at the mine that went for 4 years after which they put me on full time and have been there ever since (approx 9 Years all up) and now I work on this all day long Idiot2 -

Which mine VNSVLE? We do work in the area. Might be there one of these days.

I started off as an apprentice electrician at a Comalco aluminium smelter and did my time and two years as a maintenance electrician before heading to uni in Rockhampton for 4 years to do electrical engineering. Back to the smelter after that as an engineer and in various roles for the next 10 years so I had 20 years up there before heading off.

I went to be Technical Manager for a timber company in Burpengary for 4.5 years. A couple of years dabbling in property after I left timber having done my bit in building a new mill in Bathurst.

I went back to engineering as Lead Commissioning Engineer for UGL on NSBT or as it is known now Clem 7 tunnel in Brisbane. From there to Airport Link tunnel as Area Co-Ordinator for the southern section. When that finished UGL was lacking in contracts so almost all of us found other directions.

I'm now with and electrical design office called BRS Electrical as Engineering Manager and enjoying the non-construction culture for a change. No photos of big-arse machinery to put up, unless you really want to see all the screens on my desk? Yeah - not the same thing is it.

What I do now... Project Materials Estimator for Becks Home Hardward (Tassie wide)

How I got there...
Dropped out of year 11 (1985) and started working for Coles as a casual. Got ontot h fast track management course and was doing 60+ hrs a week at 15. Didn;t like stepping on others to get ahead so quit!
Straight into delivery driver assistant for local "retravision" style store with furniture. You find out what heavy is lifting a Silent Knight fridge down stair cause some fool sales rep didn't know it was a 80 yr old fridge and accepted it as a trade in LOL. Got fired from that because I got in trouble with the cops (a story for another day).
Spent 6 months doing landscaping for cash and cleaning an indoor cricket centre until I was accepted into army as a grunt. At last minute I got a job as Maintenance man for drycleaners and pulling out of signing up. Spent next 4 years working out how every bit of drycleaning machinery worked and how to fix it, including high pressure dry steam boilers and high pressure air compressors as well as knowing how to do every type of job at a dry cleaners so I could replace people as they went on holiday. The dirversity was great and it always kept me thnking... hours sucked as I could not start working on steam lines until they cooled at about 4pm. Many evening leaving work and getting to pub after 10pm only to have to play catch up with my mates in drinking...... found out that downing 10 ouso slammers would help with the catch up fast and soon I could understand drunkenese.
Left that job due to changes that cost me heaps of income and flexitime. For the next year I went back to handyman work, cleaning and started taxi driving.. . long hours and, cept for building work, low pay.
Started working at SOuthern Aluminium mag factory in Bell Bay, shift work was great and pay was amazing but it was easy to see the place wouldn't last long... within 18 months lay offs started so I took a package and when back to school. Started with a Management Cert and ended up getting Dip in Accounting and Certs in Human Resource and Frontline. Got addicted to school and went to Uni. Meanwhile I worked and a pump jocky for BP, tree fern harvester, business partner for a panel beater/mechanic, financial director of a federal ellection campaign, landscaper and project manager for owner/builders. (side note, to date I have 1/2 degrees in accounting, engineering, computing and teaching)
Started own business which slowly went bust taking our home with it... kept in the building game to keep some cash coming in..
Got a traineeship as Filtration Technician for pharmaceutical manufactoring company, ended up national supervisor for raw product collection. This had me going all over country to abattoirs organising and training people on how to collect product. A damn interesting and challenging job.
Got laid off and started my own building firm.. within 12 months I had a crew of 4-5 and was turning over about 1 mill/yr.
A neck operation caused me to scale down and close building business (this time with no losses) then got the current job of Estimator. It keeps me in the industry I enjoy and I think I have a few more houses left in me which I am planning on using up with my new wife by building about 6 units then our house in the bush..

I did an electronics apprenticeship with ETSA when i left school, specialising in digital electronics and power station control and instrumentation. Got toterminated at the end of apprenticeship with about 300 others.

Moved on to do photocopiers after 3 wonderfull months bludging on the dole. Did that for 14 odd years speciallising in high end production, colour and network connectivity. Went as far as i could with that job and left.

Then got into vending machine and coffee equipment repairs where i spent five years as a road tech and am now the service manager for the company i work at.

Fixing machines was a lot easier tahn dealing with people and customers!

Just applied for a job as a porn director - but for midgets. Start at the bottom in the industry look like.

I guess the only job where you start from the top is digging ditches for the council
