Req. Busa Knowledgeable Mechanic Sydney
#1
Hi Guys,

My bike seems to be having few issues of late, just about to hit 70k regularly serviced by me, but she's had a hard life.

Seems to lose power in the top of the rev range and it struggles to get the front wheel off the ground.

I want a mechanic that i can take my busa to that will give me a straight answer and not try to take me for a ride.

Thanks
Regards,

John

Spot on rev, bike dynoed at C & M Motorcycles, Ingleburn. Leaning out at about 5k. Fuel filter required. What's the procedure for replacing them?

Download yourself the Workshop Manual. It is somwhere here on Forum in Technical section. A very handy reference for DIY everything. You can get cheper OEM parts (up to 50%) from the US sites rather than from your Suzuki dealer because as Revhead said they want your arm, leg and at least one ball for it Biker

Here's your fuel pump, well, almost;

& note the "white" tea bag filter on the bottom, which is probably blocked, and in the black plastic housing is filter material that also gets blocked.
Try pulling the pump out & cleaning the teabag filter, maybe OK.

Mechanic, Sydney, try Jamie @ S & R Pro, Coreen Avenue, Penrith, NSW.

ive got piccis up here somewhere of when i cut a filter open and gutted it ,then put it back together ,i then fitted an external filter for ease of maintenance and it helps the back pocket ,as it only costs $40 to change the filter

Did you remove or clean the 't' bag filter Revhead? When mine needs doing there is no way I am paying the sort of prices Suzuki want for a filter. An inline one same as you fitted is the way to go IMO.

I suppose the plastic cartridge filter is made of a polypropylene type plastic the one that cannot be glued. I have heard there is now a glue that will stick this type but I would be unwilling to try it out.

In your write up Ican't for the life of me remember what you used to seal the cartridge and the search facility is sometimes beyond me.

i chucked the tea bag filter ,away ,il post up picci of the fuel filter tomorrow ,what i did was get a hacksaw blade ,and cut around the top seem ,then pulled up hard on the top ,till it came apart ,then pulled the filter out ,then used a gas powered soldering iron and plastic welded it back together ,then coated the seen of weld with apoxy glue then let it dry for 3x day ,then i reassembled it onto the pump and metal housing then adding some big arse cable ties for added help then fitted back into tank, this was 7 months ago ,it do run a steel efi fitler from a vr commy ,cost $27 ,make sue u get some longer efi hi pressure hose and 4 new clamps,i also fitted 1999 busa fuel line springs over the fuel lines so they couldnt kink or fold.
