New tyres
#1
Hey,i understand there is countless tyre threads but it's hard to sort through and understand how people ride which causes the Busa to chew through tyres.

I have the oem tyres on the Busa which i've gotten 7500km's out of them,i usually ride through the hills[Mt Nebo & Mt Glorious],baby the bike and do abit of country sight seeing.

Would love a tyre that gets high mileage.

What are the choices?..I was considering Dunlop GPR 200 as stated that their for high mileage up to 1400cc.

I appreciate it.

My tyre of choice is the Michelin Pilot Road 3. The other option is the Dunlop Roadsmart 2! Good luck Biker

Full sports front and sports touring rear is a good combination on the Busa. Nothing like having that extra confidence in the front end. Works for me. Have a blast, Paul.Very Happy

How many km's are you averaging on the set?. Should i stick with nitrogen in the tyres?

If you have gotten 7500k out of your original tyres then your looking to get at least 15000k out of Michelin Pilot Road 2 or 3's.
Most people I know only get about 3000k [ or less ] out of an original rear and little more from the front and still easily manage 10,000k out of the Michelins .
Good tyres for all conditions .

Yep and if you run a power 3 on the front and a road 3 on the rear you will still get around 10 000 out of them and have all of the benefits of a sports tyre on the end that really matters. Sorry to sound like a broken record but after spending $15 000 odd in the last 7 years on bike rubber some logic managed to penetrate even my thick skull. Have a blast, Paul.Very Happy

That's almost the same as I'm running now.
Pilot Power 3 front and Pilot Road 2 on the rear. I prefer to change both at the same time , I'm too old to be worried about getting the last few K's out of an old front.
Have a good talk to your tyre guy, there is more to good tyres then high mileage.
The Michelins are a great choice , and that's been said in more then this thread.

Change of plans. Can't find Michelins anywhere so i'm going to try Pirelli Angel ST. Called Team Moto and spoke to the workshop, wanted $500 fitted even though the website says $400 fitted and was a 4hr wait from dropping the bike off, getting tyres fitted and picking it up.

Springwood Suzuki is 45mins with free drink and discount of brekky and all for $475......Can't complain with that.

Yeah i had a good chat with the workshop at Springwood Suzuki and simply stated what i do and what would be the best choice,he did say Michelin's except they are on back order for a month and my tyres are just past the wear indicators and rather get them changed out sooner than later. If i didn't ride my bike every weekend regardless of the weather i would wait.

Next tyre choice i'll give em a crack.

Good choice Dai, you won't be disappointed with the Pirelli Angel.
Probably will not get as many K's as the Michelin but now you will have a different brand to compare to.Pi_thumbsup
Keep an eye open for our mates in blue over Mt Nebo and Mt Glorious.
I heard they are about up there more then normal.
And thanks to our Government if we ride in a "group/gang" of 3 bikes or more we can expect to be pulled over and checked for being suspected bikies........Pi_thumbsdown

Yeah i ended up reading that, good thing i ride alone 99% in Nebo and Glorious.I noticed a patrol car and two unmarked cars[Lancer Evo & VW Golf] over the weekend. Their usually doing small defect stations every 2nd weekend atm.

If i end up racking up the km's on these new tyres to the point where they need to be replaced,i'll sit out and wait for some Michelins.

Went over Mt Glorious and Mt Nebo this morning for the first time. The place was deserted, only passed 2 bikes and 1 car coming up the western side and about half a dozen bikes and a half a dozen clubman cars going down the Brisbane side.
My bike has a Pirelli Corsa on the front and a Michelin Pilot Road 3 on the rear which I put on 3000km's ago after damaging a Dunlop Qualifier 2 from a Puncture. The Michelin on the rear has more grip then the Dunlop, the Dunlop would step out with a power slide where the Michelin just grips. The Pirelli Corsa on the front grips good but seems to be wearing quick. I think the Pirelli Angel's would be my second choice after the Pilot road 3's, the both get good reveiws for grip and mileage.
Was on my way down to Manhiem auctions at Eagle Farm from the Sunshine Coast with a slight detour. Very Happy
Was looking at a Blue Gen 2 2008 repairable write off, went for $5350.
