Vibration - 4500 to 5000 rpm
#1
Guys,
I have recently purchased a brand new 2013 Hayabusa which has just had it's 1000km service. It's totally stock. The bike is brilliantly smooth right up to the 4500 rpm mark thru to the 5000 rpm mark. It then gets a vibration sensation which I feel thru' the seat, my knees on the tank, the footpegs and the handgrips. I would describe the vibration as a harshness. It's really weird. I can't work it out. It happens in top gear and it's bloody annoying. It's not the brakes and its not a fuel issue as I only run BP 98 (unless the 98 is the problem). It's also not intermittent, I can bet my house on it.
I have searched thru heaps of older posts and there are a number of riders who have experienced the same vibration as me, but there is no valid reasoning or responses that may account for this harshness.
I can't recall if it started after the 1000km service as I was taking it very easy back then. Now, it's just giving me the shits..........any ideas?
......if in doubt, power out. If unsure, give it more!

Hey mick I have a 13 Busa same as you. I've done just over 2500 k's on it. I unfortunately have had no issue. It's smooth as.

I did however have a similar problem on my 09 Busa. I had it tuned with a P/C because I changed pipes. That did clear the vibrations.

Not saying that that's your problem. Also the 13 Busa runs really reach so maybe at those revs it's getting a bit to much fuel.

Sorry I don't have a definitive answer.

Hi Mick,
I am in the same boat as you (1K service done about 2 weeks ago) and I have noticed with ALL teh busa I have owned that at about 140kph a vibration does develop but then smooths out about 155-160. Just ride through it mate.
All I can put it down to is a synchronization of harmonics in the bike at that rev/load/speed but could be wrong.

The worse busa so far was the 01, this 13 is the smoothest. The 99 was just an animal that gave me those special good feelings in my crotch at all revs so I really didn't notice any extra vibration LOL

If it doesn't feel right it prob is an issue.
Can't it go back to the dealer?

So just at that rev range in all gears yeah?

If it were mine I would be checking every nut and bolt to make sure nothing is loose.
I had a small vibe issue on mine and turned out it was a loose bolt on the front fender. When I would bang it gently with my hand I could hear the vibe noise.

Even though the bike is new there could be something loose.

Flog it. If it's not a ttech issue New parts if the bike have to synch and thermal cycle the parts by riding at various loads goin thro heat and cool cycles

All roads in Tasmania are private, first owned by Gunns Forestry, then bought by Green Party and now I think property of McDonalds lol

Absolutely brilliant reply........love ur work......lol.

Thanks all for your responses. Maybe I'm just being overly fussy. Probably right though, needs to go back to the dealer, but that's such a pain in the arse. Such a smooth ride, right to the point of vibration/harshness. Disappointing really as it almost can be forgiven...........but just not quite right. Thanks again for taking the time to reply.

most busas do that when new but will get a lot smoother after a few thousand k like mine did and it has been a joy to ride after thatCoolsmiley

larra, thanks for the heads up re the vibration issues. Yours is the 1st comment that reassures me that the issue can be rectified.......even if it was the case that it sorted itself out. Ride on!
