Wow, byo sleeping quarters........I was planning to leave real early and get there before dark so I didn't have to pay for somewhere to sleep.

Bloody hell Homer, you're a keen man. Not sure where in W.A you are, but according to google maps, Perth to Tathra is 42 hours.
I reckon it might just get dark at some point in this 42 hour period Lol3.
Hope to see you anyway .. Pi_thumbsup

Perth to Tathra is about 4000 klm which you can do in 20 hours if you can maintain an average speed of 200kph lol

If you remove the "experience" of riding over and just want to be at Tathra then here are some facts I have considered for the crossing........

Perth - Melbourne 3400klm
Bike Expenses
>fuel consumption
>>average 340klm/tank
>>20lt/tank @ $1.70/Lt average
> $340 in fuel

>tyres
>>1/2 life of a new set based on high km of straight riding
>>set of tyres $600 fitted
>$300

>services
>>full service done @ mechanic
>>average service cost $250
>$250

>unknown
>>running repairs, breaks & general unforeseen costs
>$100

Rider Expences
Based on a 3 night crossing with 4 full days of riding @ average of 850 klm/day
>Meals & drinks
>>3 x pub dinners @ $30/meal
>>6 x riding meals (MacDonalds/Servo type stops) @ $15/meal
>>12 x 1lt water bottles while riding @ $3 each
>$216

>Accommodation
>>3 x nights @ $75/night
>$225

>unknown
>>any unforeseen personal incident
>$100

>HOLY f*** MOMENTS
>$300

TOTAL

$1,831

I know some of these costs may be high due but when budgeting I always go tot he high side of expenses and low side of income

Transporting bike
>transport company 1 way
>$800

>Airfare 1 way
>$300

TOTAL

$1,100

and the only other consideration is.....

4 days spent on the bike compared to 6 hours in a plane.

BUT if you are wanting the experience (as I will do one day) then nothing can compare Trophy

right now I just can't do the 12 day annual leave for it (and thats with being in saddle for 16 days straight with no extra time off )

need more leave for my Feb ride plus investigating places to move too in early '16
