best route to melbourne from brissy

hey mechanx,
rode from brisbane to melb and back in sept last year.
Best route depends on if you want a quick trip or a great view.
If you are pressed for time then straight up the newell is the best and up through warwick, goondoowindi, ipswich too brisbane.
Otherwise if you have time, go the coast roads and through the ranges etc for a more visually pleasing drive.

Quickest and most boring.
if you have several days work your way down crossing the divide several times,
In the southern bit from the snowies look for Corryong,Walwa,follow the Murray,cross Granya,Talangatta,Kiewa,Tawonga,Bright,Myrtleford,Milawa, Whitfield,Myrtleford,Merton, Alexandra.
Melbourne guys could guide you better from here!

I was out Riding Not Working today and bumped into Mechanx coming home from the Island with his pillion.

Just north of Bulladelah, I tried to lure him onto Wootton Way to break the boredom of the Pacific Hwy but they were too tired. Can't blame them really it's a long way from the Island to Bully in 2 days.

Anyway nice to meet you Mechanx and hope you have a safe trip back to Brisvegas..

Thanks BUSGO we made it back today with arses that were 10 cm wider on each side! would have loved to have joined you on a blast but we were totally shagged and just wanted to get home definately next time! Has anyone got any ideas on how to improve the comfort factor for our arses on these long hauls? Heard about a "gel seat" when we were at the island couldn't find the guy who was selling them tho

From what I've heard MechanX, those gel seats are only good for about 2 hours and then they are the same as the standard busa seat and I reckon the busa seats are the best saddles on a sports tourer you can get.

My solution is a 10 minute break every 2 hours and a 30 minute break every 4 hours. Then a spa at the end of the day.
The pillions seem to like this bit.
