WELL whos gunner start. Arh well i will ,spoke to a dude today Max who has a 50cal BMG single shot necked down to a 375 he suggested a 300+ pill at around 3900 fps he gets out of it. And a man target 2500mtrs. He is going down to a 338 because of the bullet options. He reckons if he hot loads it ,a 1000 rounds see's the barrel gone.

If he is pushing 3900 with a 300 grainer, why change?
Is that not good enough for him?
I thought you would have more options in 375.

He should be still lethal through 50 to 100mm of concrete at about 1000M with that..... What does he shoot with it? Is there a dam that is giving him the shits and needs a hole in it?

Man, you blokes love these cannons don't ya?
Factory winchester for my 308 only costs $70 per hundred, so why bother reloading.

That's about what my Winchester 270 factories were costing me 25yrs ago. Reloading worked out to about $0.12 / round & so that's the way we went. We just loaded std grain.
Were only contract shooting & so didn't want to waste the stuff. + a lot of our cases were getting to the end of their life. probably 50% were cracked around the cap base, so didn;t want to make them too hot incase they blew the back off.

I sold that rifle when I was 18. I think I've still got a couple of rounds kicking around somewhere........

Arh reloading, well u can choose bullet weight and construction and powder weight.
I have found a very good combiation for my 300Wthby 150grn Nosler Accubond balliatic tip doing approx 3500 fps . It has a Tobler heavy barrel and it shoots around 1.5 inch group at 200mtrs and its very flat in its trajectory . But its a single shot Ruger No.1 so u have to make sure u are on target.

The .460 is taking 45.5 grains of AR2205 behind a 200 grain XTP -should be pushing around 2300+ at the muzzle, not bad for a Housegun.
I'm loading for my 270 - 48.7grains of AR2208 with a magnum primer behind it - sitting aound 3400 with a 110grn Hornady VMax pill, just awesome is all I can say about the load. Still headshooting at 300 + meters, costly on the barrel for throat wear thought.
the 338LM takes 96grains of AR2225 and is pushing a 250grain pill out at just sub 3000fps, sub .5moa all out to 400 at this stage. SWtill running her in and sorting ranges as I step it out.

And the answer is a resounding "Yes" we love our cannons!Fatman

Mind you the animal Ray is talking about knecking down to 338 with a 50cal case and load behind it is obviously a lunatic. We should invite him along here, good company!Pi_freak

Hey kawasuki, Max,
Have a few weeks long service leave and been doing some reloading of my baby cannons.
.270 Weatherby Mag 130g Nosler 74g of Reloader 22 215 Fed primer for 3400'/sec. 150g Nosler 71g reloader 22 215 Fed primer for 3200'/sec, a bit warm but shoots flat as.
.204 Ruger 32g Nosler 27.5g BM2 205 Fed primer for almost 4000'/sec.
We need a weekend for some RnR (Rifle shooting & Reloading) any suggestions? I have access to a range and a place to try them out, but it's getting a bit fresh up this way (-4 C) last night.

Oh shit.
I was waiting for the Jindy comment.
I should be able to make Jindy but if a late job comes up I may have to work...:-)

I just want to make it very clear that I did not put the word "pop" in.
I will go now.
Everyone have an extremely nice day.

Now Gaz that sounds like a good idea ,in what area are u talking. Farking -4 phew the bullets might get caught in the frosty air.
I am waiting on a shipment from the US to do some reloading (its a gift off a friend of mine RUBEN) just incase he has a radar on my threads.

Hey Gazza,
I've got a can of Reloader 22 that I tried out with the 338. Too quick. I've gone to Reloader 25 and AR2225, both really slow burners and getting some pretty good results from them. YOu're quite welcome to the Rl22, got any AR2208 you want to get rid of?

The range, reloading and shooting sounds good. Can you get time off during the week? Where are you based?

Cheers
