You will have to forgive the MPH not KPH and it was on a 750cc bike , , the little garmins work well though
i have even put one in my pocket on a ride day to see just what speed i was peaking at on the straight
but there refresh rate is about 1 a second on most and 1 every 2 secs on some so you dont always get your peak speed unless you hold it for at least that long

And for those wanting to go fast in a controlled way, there is a 1 mile track being prepared that will run several meetings a yr in SA

Can you tell me anymore about the 1 mile track you mention, like where is it, and whats it's purpose?

Purely landspeed racing
South Australian DLRA guys have started an offshoot association looking to run events both on salt and on a purpose built track
look up SATA

First meeting is in Nov and will be 1/2 mile
I will be in mid harvest and not able to go, but last time i did similar was able to get 191mph up at Casino airfield on my streetbike of the time, realy want to get over 200 (321kph)in the 1/2 mile as it sets up for 260+(420kph) in the mile

Anything over 320kph you want to be thinking very seriously about your tires , valves and valve caps
Bill Warner (fastest guy ever on a bike) was probably killed by tire failure, i have had multiple tire chunking and one major delamination , seen rubber valves inside a tire after a deflation (Hey Bones ;) ) and seen deflation from a forgotten valve cap
All lsr associations want steel valve stems, angle stems supported with tie wire and steel valve caps
for good reason

Every year it does not rain ,which is not as frequent as we would like
Salt is a whole new ballgame to ride on and very damaging to the bikes platings, bearings, electrics etc
not something you would take your pride and joy to, but definitely a place to try out a bikes or riders limits

This year is the 25th anniversary http://www.dlra.org.au/2015.htm
