Have you tested the rectifier ? Run bike at 5000 rpm test battery terminals. Should have between 13.5 to 15 volts no more !

Yes evil I tested the charging system and it tested good, about 14.5 volts @5000 rpm.....Thanx!!! <i></i>

Looking at the stepper motor diagrams you would wonder how a voltage could be applied to the needle shaft to actually melt the needle, particularly as the shaft assembly has an air gap between it & the outer 6 coils ? <i></i>
