I read this idea on another discussion board and thought ,not a bad idea.If members gave a brief history of their riding career it gives other members an idea where they're comming from.I'll start the ball rolling.......I've been riding for 25 years and my list of bikes owned are,YAM DT175,KWAK S2 350,KWAK Z650,KWAK Z1R1000,KWAK GPZ750,KWAK GPZ 750 TURBO x2,YAM DT400,KWAK Z1R 1000(1280 KIT),YAM FZ750,HON VFR750,and last but not least,the Bussa.

I've been riding for 8 or 9 years. Started on Piglet, a Z250B. Took that bike all around the country and did all the work on it myself. Everywhere I went people would say, 'you can't tour on a 250! Where are you from love?' I've since found out there are easier ways to travel.

Number 2 was a CB750 (Darth). Custom black paint job, went like the clappers. Never thought I'd sell him, but I started redlining him everywhere and using WAAY too much tyre. He went to a dentist.

Bandit 1200. Ballsy bike, but started doing track days and thought there might be an easier way.

Moby the blue/silver Hayabusa was next. Loved him, took him to the track more than I probably should have until some bastards STOLE him!

Brief flirtation with an R1 that I HATED, and back to the bus.

This is my last bike.

WARD P

Started at age 10 with Yamaha DT175 trail bike
1st road bike was Suzuki GT185 (aircooled 2 stroke twin)
Stepped from that to a Honda CBX1000(the 6cyl monster) at the age of 18. Since then it's been a succession of toys, RM250, GS850G, another CBX1000, CBR1000, and lastly the busa. So I 'spose I've been riding for nearly 30 years now.

cheers,

WARD

Started with a Suzuki 75 step through at age 10, then rg 250, then gsxr 1100, and now the 'busa. So riding 21 years, although only 13 on the road. Regards,

Rode my first bike at 15 which was a Yamaha peewee50. Been riding on the road since i was 18,9mths and owned a Yamaha SR250 which i kept for about 3 months before moving up to a Yamaha RZ250 and rode that for about 2 years. Had a break of about 4 years from riding then got a Suzuki RG500 which i rode for 6 months. Took a 6 year break then got the busa.

Am afraid I am an example of the classic mid life crisis rider.

Never road until January 2000. License and then straight onto a Suzi 800 Maruder. After 3 months of numb bum and lamentable performance I traded up to a Suzi GSX750F. Had fun, but busted it in the bush one day. Had another one but could not keep up with the troops on our long rides so I got the Bus in May 2001.

24,000 Happy K's later it is still the one!

Keeping tyres on the Bus is expensive but still cheaper than a Blond and I don't have to talk to the Bus after the usual Sunday morning ride.

Life around bikes started at a very young age. Dad owned some industrial property and one of the first Fraser Motorcycles to residence. Anyone remember the Honda MR50 and the first XR75. Didn't do much riding, just loved being around the shop and helping build them out of the crate. The odd fang around the Uncle's farms came next, an old yammy 50 and 125. Then came the infamous CT110, lotsa fun and couldn't really get into too much trouble around the paddocks.

Then came my 18th birthday, moved from Wollongong to Wyong and hence the beginning of my road motorcycling era. First bike, Kawa Z500. Great first bike, but the haul every weekend from W to W and back again became mighty boring after about the second ride. So after about one month moved up to a Honda CB900 bol'dor, loved it, but everytime I rode it it rained. Next came a work bike, Kawa GT750, what a PIG. Then a Kawa GPz750 followed by a Kawa GPx750 for my 21st. Gave up riding 3 years later after a serious back injury. Never thought about a bike again till my 33rd year life crisis and found solice in a Honda CBR1000F. Thought I'd only ever get rid of it for a Blackbird, till I walked into the local Suzuki shop and asked if the Busa with the plate on it was a test bike. No came the response. It's in for it's first service, but the guy asked about getting rid of it. They arranged a ride for me and it hasn't left my side. As far as I am concerned, this would have to be the most perfect bike for any and every ocassion.

Sorry to waffle guys, this one is shorter. My lovely partner, after being a wonderful pillon, says she wants to ride. I get a rundown Kawa GPx250 and rebuild it. She takes it once around the block and says, Hmmmm, you don't expect me to ride that heap of shit do you. Goes and does her L's course, we go down the road and trade the Kawa in on what has effectionately come to be known as the foetus, a Suzuki GSX250 Across. It started as a baby Busa, but after she rode it twice she says it wasn't big enough to have been born yet. 7 rides later and she now owns an Aprilia SL1000 Falco. She's off doing her full license test today and tomorrow we ride the busa to the Sunshine Coast QLD for her to pick up and ride her new pride and joy home. Sorry guys, but my lovely Jules has to take the cake.

Take care all and ride safe. Goldie.

Started three years ago, got my learners at HART Tullamarine and my first bike was a Honda CBR250RR (Grey Import)

Rode this for a year and a half and absolutely killed it..... Sold it to Action Motorcycles in Melbourne (they then tried to sell it for a couple of months but it's now out the back in their workshop in a million pieces... thrashed too hard for too long )

Bought a set of custom plates (BUSA-1) as I knew I wanted one eventually, but was still thinking of getting a GSXR-750 as a step up in the meantime.

Did a few advanced riding courses at HART on their CB600's.

Then after much contemplating and test riding, and chatting with a couple of Busa owners (Red/silver in Broadmeadows and John, the salesman at Raceway Suzuki, Niddrie), and after a exhilirating test ride down the citylink (220 clicks, not bad when the CBR250 struggled at 160!!), I bought my Black/Silver 2001 Hayabusa.

Never Looked Back.

Now also got a Honda CT-110 for the daily commuting duties (and I must say that I can have just as much fun on this little thing too)

Suzuki MT50 if that counts;
CB250 '80 ye old faithful and much to my mothers disgust in '91;
CX500 Shadow '80 "the ugly duckling" and nothing but trouble;
GPZ900 '86 "the 80's superbike" an awsome bike I'd recomment to anyone on a budget (cant believe that no previous posts mention one);
GPZ1100 '95 154000k's and now its sitting at Mick Hones. Served me well;
Busa '02 the tyre abuser.

Ok well I am 47 now, but got the bug when I was about 5. Yes 5, still remember it, watched a bike pull up alongside, rider went in to a neighbours house, facinated I squatted and admired the naked engine and stroked it only to burn myself. So yep I was marked. Not sure what sort of bike it was, probably a BSA or Norton.

First ride came in some village in E. Europe whilst on holiday. Must have been about 11yo. I rode what I believe to be a Jawa 250 from village to village (yep no cops there those days). I still dont know how I did it without any formal training and without any objections by the adults. First bike I bought, licensed at 16 (UK), a Honda step through C50 (well what could I do I went shopping for a bike with my mum). About a week later I could stand it no longer so upped the power by trading it in for a C90 (LOL-some power) without my mum knowing about it. The change-over was only 8 pounds 10 shillings. Then a few years later a Yamaha 'Electric' 200cc (1st elec. start I believe). Norton 750 commando, CB750, CX500 Turbo, CBR1000, ST1100 x3 (Red, Aqua and Black).

Hyabusa just over 3 years ago, with no desire for change. Only bike I ever wanted to keep, so may just very well be the last. Nothing out there comes close to make me want to give this one up.

In rough chronological order (pick the trend )
First bike at 12 or 13: KD80M (had it for 12 years..)
First road bike at 18: RG250
Then at 21: GSXR750 (Mark Fissendon ex-super bike converted to road-with marvics and full race exhaust!!)
RG250 (again)
CT110 (on "loan" for 6 months)
IT175
GSXR750 (..Met uncle balls and he corrupted me-1995- different motor and upside forks, ohlins etc etc)
DT175 (the courier missile...)
XR250 (did the head 3 times)
RZ350
GSXR750 (same one, another damn motor, different bodywork)
RG250
GSXR7/11 (same one, bigger motor, bodywork, modded out to the max. Uncle balls was a bad influence)
Hayabusa
Little yamaha 100cc paddock basher
GSXR1000K1
I think thats it....Though I'm sure there were a few more trailbikes in the mix that I have chosen to forget about.
The gixxer thou suits my needs at the present therefore I am happy. Very happy.
Wish list: RG500, Aprillia diotech 50cc scooter (don't ask) and a 916/748 for the pose value. A turbo busa would be nice as well.

Hey all, just thought i'd say hello. Still getting used to this f*#king puter. only just joined, so i'll try not to f*#k up too much. Don't have much of a vocabulary, sorry...

Started riding when i was 15 on a CR80 '79 , never really got into the dirt thing that much, turned 17 and got a GF250 suzuki. this thing had twin discs and all. Saw a stunt show once and thought i give a go. Thrashed it till it was dead, bought a gixer 750 '91 and was my pride and joy until i threw it down the road and lost a few toes in the process (never wear steel caps).
Bought an R1 when they first came out (i had the fouth one in Australia) rode it for a while until i flipped it in 4th, must've been the first to do it on an R1 (not proud of it but u live and learn) lost half my calf muscle for it . took it off the road and started racing. bought a bandit12 and crashed that as well on the oxley at night.
Still got the bandit12 and building it into a streetfighter but looking for a copper busa (let me know if anyones interested). Doing a bit of drag racing soon once all my parts come in...hehehehe

demeester

Hence your username...

QuoteVery Happyoing a bit of drag racing soon once all my parts come in...

Are you refering to toes or calf muscles??

rocket rod 7777

Where is your history Richard?????

demeester

Mine is far too brief, uninteresting, and inexperienced. GPX250, short stint on ZX9, and then the busa.
