mutha, there is such a thing as writing away and you might get let off coz you were fine free for x years. many dont know about this 'bracks-gov' arrangement but its true. just write off and present your case as best you can.

Stay really calm in the letter and just state the facts as you see them including your (fairly) clean riding record. Also state that you ride your bike every day for work. Dot point if you have to to keep it simple. Email it to me if you want a second opinion, I'm not a lawyer, but I know HEAPS of big words.

Mutha: If you have had a blemish free record for 2 years, the good folk down at Civic Compliance have the power (discretion) to issue you a caution in your case:)

This has always been so but was not made public until it was discovered that that our Police (being in a position to know) were making use of this "loop hole"  to save their own arses ( yes, everyone gets nailed sooner or later, even Police ).  It's a simple equation really........ time x exposure= you're done sunshine  :pi_money:

Yeah yeah ....I hear all you Donny Dogooders...."I never get caught blah blah".... most of the Donny's I know travel by train anyway Violin

Write to them & explain the circumstances but don't get too defensive.
Never ride the A model of anything.

Thanks Heidi, I will draft up a letter and email it to you, I am taking all the advice offered, thanks people. I checked my demerit point extract and my last speeding fine was the 02/01/2004. My last fine was for Disobey Traffic Sign on the 19/06/2004' and before all of that it was 13/06/2002.

I had a incident last month at a with a red light camera. I know the set of lights and I use them at least half a dozen times a day.
I went in to look at the photo today and I am sitting just over the white line with my feet planted on the ground. So I wasn't moving when the camera when off in both pic's. I know why I was over the line. It was because are car was tailgateing me down flinders street. he was right behind and to close for comfort. You can't see the car behind me in the photo, because a truck is blocking the camera's view. So I am going to be writing to civic compliance about that too.

Cheers T Biker

the rule is as far as I know is that if your back wheel was past the line as photo went off its a no charge. i was done in a car whilst being delayed in the intersection, back wheels were over the line for photo, charge dismissed by camera office. but they send the fine anyway, its only when you contest they may dismiss.

Whole flogging thing's a joke any way. Noticed earlier in the thread that someone else said that essentially it's just another way of taxing kilometres. If they were fairdinkum they'd send patrol cars out and get all the bloody doof doof boys in their GTR's etc off the road, then they'd catch all the idiots who U-turn at traffic lights. Don't even get me started about the a%^^holes that sit in the middle lanes of main roads and expressways doing 20k's under the limit. I used to ride from Girraween to Caringbah in Sydney everyday. One day I got boxed in by a couple of F*&^wits playing chicken in the traffic. Noticed the cockroach in his car about 100m back and didn't think anything of it. Accelerated to get out of the middle of doof doof boys that boxed me in and took my usual left turn. The cockroach, having witnessed the dangerous behaviour of the duffer's followed me and pulled me over!! Booked me for speeding when I accelerated out of the middle of the sandwich!!!! Would have been much better to have an accident?!?! His first words to me as he lept out of his car were "I got you on video!" Wonderful professional demeanour. What made it hard for me was I was struggling to keep a straight face because the cockroach looked like and sounded like Police Chief Wigam from "the Simpsons".Lol2
I am afraid I have been a very long time sceptic of claims that traffic policing is for anything other than revenue raising.
It's a week by week charade.

DisPlaCeD Wrote:well, I just got done on the Hume Hwy... 138 in a 110 zone... cutting through traffic just a quick squirt up and then back down and BAM... I'm now f**ked! Was on 9 points... and that's 15 and over loss of 3 points. Think once I reach 12 they suspend it for 3 months? :(

I've got a few more months to go on my 12mths with 1 point stint.
Last year in Qld I was done for speeding twice in the year. That in itself is no biggie. BUT in good old Qld if you get done 2 times in 12mths for speeding you loose the points for each fine + an additional 6 points. That put me at a total of 15 points lost. Hence the 1 pointer for 12mths.

And the comment from someone there about the insurance. I tried to insure the car a couple of mths ago. The question was not "Have you LOST your licence for speeding" it was "Have you had a speeding fine within the last 12mths". I had to say YES & they wouldn't insure the car. Ended up having to change the rego over to my wife & insure in her name.

Well, why post anything?
There is no such word as deprivated.
