Your right there Pi_thumbsup
Used to ride with blokes on IT425 & 490, think they were a 4 speed box.
The fiirst big bore 2 stroke I rode was a over bored YZ400 owned by a fellow boarder @ the boarding school I went to in Charters Towers when I was 16. I remember bingling it whilst learning how to do 2nd gear race starts Lol3.
Just LUVVV big bore 2 strokes Smitten

Luv the WR500's, got to ride a few when working @ Cairns Yamaha around 1995. One of the salesman actually used one to ride to the tip of Cape York, what a blast Clap.

The pic is just for the reference - 125 cc, 3.8 horses at 3500 rpm., 3 spees gearbox, max speed ~ 80 km/h (with wind) I was 10 yo and put it together from the wrecks in my unckle's shed Scary How the time flies.....

My first bike, purchased at 16 was a brand new 1970 Suzuki GT250 Hustler, which I had for 1.5 yrs followed by a Honda CL450 Scrambler. The Honda XL175 was my fourth bike after a 72 Laverda SF750 that I had till 2nd Marriage and I bought the little scrambler as a commuter and weekend fun machine. I had the Laverda for 4 years.

I bought the Yamaha XJ650 after owning an RD400 FOR TEN years!
The XJ lasted me till I retired from the Air Force and purchased a Brand New BMW K75 RT in 1997.

When I was 15, I was cleaning out the boss's shed. I saw a trail bike wheel in a 44 gallon drum. Apon further investigation I found 3 bikes in bits. The boss accepted $80 for all 3 bikes. :) Matchless G80 500 single cylinder, nothing could match it. A.J.Stevens made a bike called an A.J.S. in 1949. One of his sons branched off on his own and built the Matchy. I never fell off. The old saying was if you go around Australia on a Matchless, you'll come back with a B.S.A. (bloody sore arse)

Some of my other bikes were a sausage tank BSA, 1980 and1982 Triumph Bonneville 750 twin
