***** Update. On fill up today I had used 14 ltrs for 252 kms = 5.5 ltr/100 km or 18 km per litre. Thats better than my FZ1 with the same sort of kms on the clock.

Bob,
Good enough to the same numbers on my new one as well.
app 18 Km per litre
Feels great not starting to think about a servo at about 145 k's into the journey ( bloody Ducati )

Only complaint is that the gauge sits on full for ages, then plummets to half full mark.

Gen 2.
I've kissed 300Km before reserve on occasion - never with 91 though.
Usually get around 230Km before reserve.
Excellent economy for an engine this big and lively.

Same, bloody deceiving that is when it does that, especially when the nearest servo is ages away.

Only complaint is that the gauge sits on full for ages, then plummets to half full mark.

***** Update
Refilled at 650km. Operating at up to 5.5k rpm with short bursts to 7k rpm (mainly in 5th or 6th :-) ).

Consumption 18.36 k/litre = 5.44 litres/100kms

Still better than my FZ1 was at same kms.

I seem to be getting very close to 400km per tank with casual highway cruising now. Not sure if it is me riding more sensible or the bike settling down as it nears 10,000km. Still flashes the fuel warning light at around 270km with regular town use though.

The right hand is what controls fuel consumption now the beast is run in! A brisk ride sees the gauge plummet, but on a steady cruise I'm at 320+ before having to worry (and no fuel light). So that ties in with what you have found. Around town is a pain, as you end up using the same amount of fuel as for a good thrash in the country.
