No, not a typical Victorian rider, but perhaps a typical Victorian Hayabusa Club member? That is what I'm trying to figure out...

I ride every day to work. Have done track day's and get out for the occasional weekend ride. Would like to ride with the busa's but so far the timing hasn't worked out with my family commitments (2 kids). Put 40000k's on my bike in 2 years.

I reckon it has to do with the state. When I was a NSW rider, I used to do 1000km each week to and from work, and then clock up a few hundred most weekends, thats about 60,000 per year.

Now that I live in Victoria I would be lucky to do 6,000 a year. And most of that is over just a couple of weeks - on the annual club ride, the odd track day, and a handfull of the odd day off to have a "scrape" with mates.

Soooo, I figure it must be the state! (nuthin' to do with working for ones self 24/7)

the only good place would be the GOR at this time of year cus most of the fun twisties ie: spurs are covered by trees so they take alot longer to dry, and if possible try to hit the GOR during the week fairly early to avoid traffic, and if u go during the week im free 24/7 at the moment and i know another club member from geelong who has mondays off so if you want company just let me know

Some Vic riders really get the best out of warm dry periods as the most travelled mountain roads can be treacherous when wet with dew, run off or damp leaves. Now the Vic cops have decided to resort to camoflage tactics to pick up bikes (even if alone and the road is deserted and straight - go figure) - it means that we have to seek alternate outlets for enjoying the potential of the Busa.

In the past we have had 20+ on day rides. Some very active members used to coordinate these. There are still plenty of Busa's on the road down here - just fewer than on warm, dry days.

My Busa is about to go to PTR for a pep-talk before I check out the next Champion ride day option. I love riding it to work but there is just no where to 'use' it safely. Without an open road it is like sitting all day watching porn - the thought is there, but it is still not the real thing. (NB I don't advocate the watching of porn - this was just a metaphore).

Bob (ps I've just sold my Beemer after >250,000 kms, reliable as can be - new one does look interesting).
